    Default Lowering on standard shocks

    Hi,

Well I purchased some PI springs which should lower my 1.8 2004 vectra by 30mm. I did some searching on here and heard that lowering by 30mm on standard (i.e non-sri) shocks would be about the maximum.

However now I've ordered I found a few more posts describing issues with a 30mm drop on these shocks? Can anyone please advise me? I cant afford new shocks so would have to return the springs if they're not going to be suitable. I would fit them and find out, but once used, the springs cant be returned!

    Cheers in advance

I don't know if there would be any difference but i've lowered my GSi using standard shocks and PI 45mm springs and don't seem to have any issues.

30mm should be fine on standard shocks, never heard of any problems myself and had none either.

Thanks for the replies, but don't all of you have the sri spec shocks? I thought the GSI also came with the SRI spec shocks which are shorter than the standard shocks?

My issues is I have the standard, non-sri, shocks and I'm unsure if that will cause issues.

I think that the standard SRi/GSi setup is 10 to 15mm lower than other models so in theory there shouldn't be no difference between the two.

A 30mm drop on standard non sport springs will be fine, i have done this in the past... any lower than 30mm & you then need to change the shocker as well.

It does get a bit confusing yoclick.
I have been reading alot about springs myself latley.
This is what I seem to have found.
    1. sri shocks are already shorter so can lower springs by another 15mm, no problem.
    2. Some people have lowered by more then this i:e 40/45mm with sri standard shocks, but many do not recommend (saying use b4`s as well)
    3. Standard non sri shocks should be ok with a 30mm drop, but no more.
    4. Age and condition of shocks also seem to matter but, no details on how old is old or amount of miles is considered old worn shocks.
    5. Seems there is a bit of risk in whatever you do, but I expect you will be ok, and if not, I do not think you would lose to much money in re-selling Pi springs second hand.
