    2004 vectra 1.9 cdti 150bhp
car died last night limp home mode error code said egr valve malfunction so stripped and cleaned it and also done boost sensor reassembled and now engine wont start it turns but wont fire up prior to the egr clean car started but wouldnt tick over error code is now p1109 p i have checked swirl bar it is intact it seems as though there is no fuel getting through is there something i might have missed when reassembling egr and boost sensor.

Unless you disturbed the plug onto the common rail, or didn't plug the boost sensor back in, nothing you are likely to have touched.

Could be the EGR valve is jammed open (this will cause rough idle or engine won't start at all).

On looking at your profile you have 2004 CDTI so it may be the throttle body. Inside it there are solder joints which crack and cause open circuits. There is a How2 on fixing it. If this is the problem the plate will be closing over because the open circuit will make the throttle body think the engine has been switched off.

Faulty swirl bars.mechanisms usually don't cause starting problems.

    Default it alive

    vectra has sprung to life
original fault code was p0400 befor i started
here what i did took off egr and boost sensor cleaned and refitted car wouldnt start and had error code p1109 but no p0400 i then checked all connections in engine bay and took off egr valve and stripped it to check solniod operation and refitted it back on car cleared code and tried again same wouldnt start i then disconnected battery left it for about 2 mins recconnected it and it fired up first turn of key.the car has got its kick back and tickover has improved and no flat spot so i guess disconnecting battery would have reset the ecu and restored default to all sensors
many thanks guys for info and help couldnt have donit without your help

Drive module may be away. Watch the bar as someone revs the engine past 2,500rpm and the rod should move. If it doesn't then the drive module has failed. The module sits underneathe the manifold and operates swirl flap number 3 which via the rod controls the other ones. If the manifold is the old style then add this to the reapir bill too.

    No probs.

Tbh you are lucky the module went as normally if they are working and the manifold needs to be changed, they don't change them. This way you'll be getting a new manifold and drive module.
