Default Needs a new Cyclinder Head..

    Hi,

For anyone following my recent thread about my vectra i have a 2006 (51k) vectra 2.2 direct (z22yh) and Vx thought that the chain had snapped. I have had it in to see a Pro (not VX) and the fault the Bolt the haold the guide rail retainer bolt was loose and has been moving causing the timing to go to crap and now that it has been left for a while the hole is to big for the bolt.

Result is it needs a new head. Anyone ever had this hapen to them before?

Anyone know where i can get a new (recon) head for this engine?

how long have you had the car for ? has it been serviced regular ? a lad in work had an issue with his 2.2 resulting in the chain going and was just outside of warranty and vxl still coughed up 50%

i have had the car for 18 months, car has a full service history. i have done about 4000 miles in 18 months.

i wouldnt get the VX to do the work, they are quite frankly a joke! no offence to anyone that works there an all.

When you say the 2.2 forum.... where is that? on this forum or is it the z22yh forum?

z22se.co.uk mate. I'd also ask about the helicoil, they'll be able to tell you if its worth it.

thanks mate, not a member over there but i will go have a look. I just spoke to a guy in blackpool that said he may be able to fix it for 200 quid. better than the 700 plus vat for a new one.
