Default emissions light caused by airbox mod?

if anyone can help before i take the car to the garage would be great, got a 2.2 direct 06 sri, done the air box mod with brand new filter the week of christmas, about two weeks later the emissions warning light came on for a few days then disappeared,a couple of times since it has come back on briefly for a day or so then gone again.would the airbox mod have caused this or would it have no affect on it,thinkin about putting the trumpet back in the airbox to see if it comes ion again.have also tried the pedal test to find out the fault code but didn't work, the light was solid and the car with a spanner light also came on when doing the test.I've trawled the threads regarding the pedal test and emissions warning light

I wouldn't have thought so but you are only supposed to remove the lower half in the box not the upper as some do as this can screw with the air flow.

Its more likely you have disturbed a hose connection and as the engine moves its sucking in air. Double check all the air hose connections are made correctly and sealed nice and tight.

It won't do any harm to replace the bits to test your theory though

I managed to bring up an EML and the Emissions light, after I replaced the air hose back to front. So air was being sucked out of the engine rather than into it. So embarrassing. LOL

cheers guys, put the trumpet back in the airbox this afternoon, the jubilee clip on the maf doesnt seem to be 100% tight so think i will replace that just to make sure the seal is tight but checked everything else was tight and secure so will give it a couple of weeks to see if light comes back on

Arter doing mine i didn't connect the MAF sensor properly. that made the EML come on. I'd bet its something to do with the MAF

Your EML light shouldn't come on after doing the mod unless you have started the car with the MAF sensor off or unless there is a leak in the system.I've done the air box mod and also had my air box on and off over the last few days,(doing the headlights),and I've had no problems whatsoever. could possibly be a leak on the maf as the jubilee clip on the pipe didnt seem to tighten up properly
