Not a big job really, you can get the pulley tensioner off the Bay for £30 odd quid and a new belt for £15 odd,bit tricky to fit but if your half decent with the spanners it can be done.

Dont supose you got any links to the parts needed m8 as i dont have a clue. going to get the local garage i use to get it all fitted but i need to supply the parts. So far ive found the following parts from vauxcentre.co.uk

Diesel Crankshaft Pulley - as this is what i think has disintegrated or seized think the part number is 55351711 £70

Diesel Fan Belt Tensioner think the part number is 9180809 £40

I also need the part numbers for a replacment belt and a replacment large bolt that holds the pully on which is a dealer part.

Hate to bring this up now but some of the aftermarket pulley's have been known to make a vibrating noise when fitted

I tried all over for pullys and they were just as dear at vauxhall but drive in hartlepool could not get any for 2 weeks as they were on back order. and im desperate as at the moment ive got my dads merc and i dont like driving it. so hopefully everything will go ok.
