Exclamation Can anybody help me please.

Right excuse me if I sound dumb.
    I'm 21 and recently brought myself a vectra c 3.2 v6 GSi.
It's a quick car and my insurance is quite pricey,
So what I would like to know is there any basic modifications I can do to the veccy to make it that bit faster.
I have a scorpion cat bk system lined up but before i fork out £400 on that what else is there that I could do.
I look forward to hearing your replys
    Many thanks Daniel

The short answer is no, there isn't that much you can do, as the engine is normally aspirated. If it was turbo charged, then a £300 remap could give you 25% extra power, but that isn't an option for you. Get a K&N panel filter to allow the engine to breathe better. Some people will recomend an induction kit instead, but they usually mean more hot air is being breathed in, although they will also increase induction noise and that's enough of an effect for some people.

Use a good fuel system cleaner such as STP to clear out any carbon deposits that may be robbing you of a few BHP, and clean out the oil breathers as the cam cover gaskets can blow on your engine if the breathers get blocked.

Change the oil in the gearbox so that (a) it's newer oil, and (b) it's a better quality than the standard stuff, to minimise friction in the transmission and therefore make the most of whatever BHP it's producing.

Digressing from the engine slightly, have a look at the chassis number for your car. If it's less than 3170294 then it has 302mm from disk brakes, and you should consider upgrading to the 314mm disks/calipers fitted to later 3.2s.

TimTay are you having yours de catted or you having a cat bk system fitted and I have thought about a custom exhaust but the last one I had fitted to my previous car knocked and rattled like mad I had nothing but problems with it.
