urgent help needed please

.......driving car today and noticed engine ticking over above 1000rpm, then battery light came on on dash-then abs .traction control light- and then steering wheel in dash display...........at that point power steering went, managed to get it restarted after ten mins and all looked fine again...........then same sequence all over., please help

You really need to test it using a multi meter. Bit late in the day but maplins sell multimeter's starting at £6.99.

thanks again guys...........AA confirmed alternator, right so is there only one type/fit for a 05 cdti?
