    Question No Electrics, No Nothing!

    Hi guys,

Fitted a new Varta battery in my signum 53 plate 2.2 Elegance Signum on Thursday and all was fine, drove to work and back on Friday no probs. Gone to start the car today and first thought it was odd the central locking wasn't working, got in the car, turned the key and nothing. So...

Checked the terminals and all the fuses and all is fine. Tried jump starting it and it still wouldn't start but it did provide enough power to power up all the electrics.

Any idea what could have caused this drain of power in a couple of hours?

    Cheers,

    John

Was the battery fully charged when you put it on the car?.

Can you give the battery a good charge. then see how it goes. You never know the "new" battery might be "duff" too.

i had a dead battery last week, got it jumped but as soon as the leeds came off no electrics, i left it in the work car park and came back the next day with a new battery. It all started ok but the engine warnig stayed on. I took it to a garage about five miles away and only just made it as i pulled in i lost everthing again. My alternator had gone down so it wasn't putting anything in the battery. my brand new battery only lasted five miles. Not saying yours has gone down but it sounds just like what mine did.
