    Default Anybody else had this?

Iv recently bought an Sri cdti 150, I bought it knowing the swirl valve control rod had fell off the manifold, the car was struggling to accelerate below 2k, iv bought all the parts and it's booked in Tuesday but on Friday a took the egr valve off and the plunger was seized solid, after a good clean the plunger is moving freely and the car is running perfect and has been since i cleaned it, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a bust Inlet but had no problems with their car, its still going in on tuesday but it just seems strange

One other thing is at about 1500-2000 rpm there is a whistle from the turbo, I have read on other posts that its perfectly normal and some cars are louder than others but on other posts it says it's a sign the turbo is on it's way out, like I said above though the car is running fine and the turbo spins up like you would expect, cheers

My swirl bar has been off for about 30,000 miles now, the car runs just the same as when I bought it 3 and a half years ago. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I'll replace the manifold if it affects the cars performance but as yet it's running fine.

Yes the car can run fairly normal with the bar off, But usually it may be slightly lumpy on start up & obviously the swirl flaps inside the manifold don't move to give extra flow or less flow when required, The main nuisance for most people are the fumes that get sucked into the cabin when at standstill or slow moving, I've also had varying degrees of egr build up including being jammed causing a hellish effect by revving & dropping continuously (on/off/on/off/on) until i smacked it with a hammer to unjam the egr. Thats why i fitted the fiat semi blanking gaskets! & only get a light sweating effect in there now.

All 'normal' cdti's have a whistle/wheezes so its nothing to worry about, if it gets very loud or effects performance it could be turbo hose related (split).
