Emissions light on!!!

Hi all, just joined. Bought a 05 Vectra 2.0 T sxi, emissions light comes on car loses power. Feels like its hit a rev limiter if you put your foot down. Then after a few days it goes out and it goes like a scalded cat!! Then it comes back on again and i'm back to no power (Boo!) Bulb replacement light continuously on too. All lights working tho!! Anyone help? Cheers fellas.

Are you sure it isn't the EMS warning light?
What does it look like?

If it is the EMS warning light, then it sounds like the engine is going into safe mode so most likely to be the crankshaft sensor near the end of its life

The only way to solve this is to swap each one with a new one to see which it is

Its orange light on the bottom r/h side of dash, looks like side view of engine. vectra manual calls it emission light. What u reckon??

If so - its your EML (Engine Management Light) if its on constantly or at least stays lit for more than a set period of time (think its 30secs) then it indicates theres a fault - and subsequently a fault code has been stored in your cars ECU.

To find out the fault - ur car needs to be hooked upto a diagnostic machine - either at ur Vauxhall dealer or a local independent garage who has diagnostic equipment . Expect the local garage to charge approx half of dealer prices. Once u know the fault code then the faulted part can be traced and dealt with.

How long have you had the car, do you know its history...?

As said, you have the Emissions light. You need to have the codes read (or read them yourself). By the way, if the light is flashing whilst you are driving you should not carry on driving it without investigation (or you may knacker your cat).

Ref the bulb warning. Double check that all the rear lights are lit in the same places - as the vec will use another bulb in a slightly different area for the rear brake and tail lights should one fail.
