Default V6CDTi - Valve shim diameter

I'll be opening up the engine sometime next week or the week after that to replace the injectors. We'll also inspect the valve clearance and adjust accordingly.

Does anyone know the diameter of shims used on the Y30DT engine?

Never had one of these engines in bits cant help you there Celes, but here in the UK the 100k mile service [10 years ] it states clearly that the cambelt and valve "tappet" clearances have to be done/checked.....

The previous did the cambelt but not the valve check at 148,000km(92k miles).

I think this could be the reason why it sounds so clacky and tickety on tickover. The injectors were bad on my old 3.0 too and it sounded much nicer.

Yours as well!!!, mine sounds "clackey and tappetey" more from cold, when its warmed up after a run it sounds much better. I am pretty sure the injectors are ok, as it seems to run and go well....

    Default

I've looked on EPC and there are a whole range of different sized valve shims for your engine, starting at 2.70 mm and going up to 3.30 mm, increasing by 0.02mm each time.

Mine is the opposite. Sounds really nice and smooth from cold, but really clacky and tappety" when warm as you can see in the videos.

Now I have to check the clearance values too and hope I won't need to buy shims...Might swap them about
