    Default EGR Flow Issues

I have a 56 reg vectra 1.9 cdti 120 bhp with 40k miles. The emission light came on yellow so checked the booklet and it advises me that it was non critical issue with emissions. The car seemed to lack power. The car was booked for 4 year service and MOT a few days later.

I took the car in and got the dealer to investigate it. They found that the EGR Flow was insufficient. To fix it carried out an ECU update and modified EGR Parameters. Has anyone else had this issue? Is this an indication of more serious EGR issues? Should I have paid them to fix it?

Did there updates fix the problem? normally insufficient flow problems are caused by the egr sooting up. Its a relatively easy job to remove the egr and clean it, along with the boost sensor. Also clean the inlet manifold where the egr pipe attaches, as this is usually overlooked and can block just as easy as the egr.

Yes seems alot better. I have been reading about EGR issues so I am concerned about potential issues that is why I asked. Will the ECU update only be a temporary fix?
