    Default Swirl actuator fault P1109

    Hi All,

After only a few months of ownership of a 06 plate 1.9 cdti SRI Vectra I have started experiencing a loss of power at low revs i.e 2000 and under.
As result of this I decided to give the car a quick service and a general once over, on doing this I noticed that a bar (that I believe is called a swirl bar?) has become loose in front of the glow plugs and was lieing on its side. After completing I reset the service indicator and the engine management light came on (not on before)- I have now had the computer read and fault code P1109 (Swirl actuator).

I have a couple of questions-

    1. Would this fault code result from the bar- remedy new inlet manifold £250 or would I need to replace the swirl actuator as well £200?
    2. Does anything else need doing the same time i.e cambelt, tensioners etc (car mileage approx 85000)

Your feedback would be appreciated as this lloks like a very expensive job to have to do just after christmas.

    Many Thanks
    Jenks

Normally P1109 happens when the actuator gets jammed from moving due to the crud in the inlet. Normally the actuator survives and is ok, (Vx recommend to change this whilst changing the inlet manifold due to it learning the range of movement to opearate and then setting it for the life of the actuator but many ppl have NOT changed it and had no adverse affects)

85k you say,? I'd of changed the cambelt at 60k personally, so yes get it done! dont forget to change the waterpump too.
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

If in doubt get the whole lot changed m8. You will pay the same labour twice if you get the manifold and drive module replaced at different times.

Hi mate if you have a look where that bar is and get someone to sit in the car and rev it, look at the 3rd hole along, when the car is revved this should move, a bit like a servo, if this moves you don't need a new actuator, mine is getting done on Tuesday, I got a new inlet manifold, gasket, cambelt kit and waterpump from autovaux for £300 and the labour at a local garage is £200, vauxhall say change the cambelt at 100k but alot of people on here change them earlier, if your having the manifold done u might aswell do the cambelt as your in there anyway
