    Smile Mrs Duncan's new car

Just wondered what folks thought on this....

    Corsa SXi+ (a/c) 1.2i 16V, 2006, Sapphire Black, 3750 miles, 2.5 years of Vx warranty on it as well as 12 months Network Q - £7500

It's one of the local dealers ex-courtesy cars. Because the sales manager knew we were looking at a newer Corsa for her, and knows me so well, he told me about it before it had even come off their courtesy car fleet (not even the other sales guys knew it was coming off! ) - so we saw it today once it was off and had a test drive.

Looking at other Network Q cars (on the Vx site) there is nothing that seems to come close. The cheapest car (of the same spec) is priced at £7288 (odd price!) at Arnold Clark in Winsford, Cheshire. Apart from being 200 miles away, I believe this is the dealer that Drinky/Mrs D had one or two issues with (I think that's putting it mildly! )

All the other ones coming up are £7995 and upwards - so it looks like the one here is a damn good deal? Factor in that I have a great relationship with my local dealer and the sales guy has, as always, been honest and straight with me/us - then it seems to be a bit of a no brainer.

Edit - forgot to say. She actually put a deposit on it today (which can be refunded/transferred to another car if really necessary) but we thought it was a good buy and didn't want to hang around as it may have gone quickly once the other sales guys knew about it.

    Any comments?

Oh, also - does anyone know if you can add Cruise Control to a Corsa like you could with the Vectra Bs etc.? It's an option on Corsas, or available as part of an option pack, so I'm hoping that the wiring is there and just needs the stalk, clutch switch and maybe Tech 2ing. I'll ask the same question on a Corsa site as well.

Sounds like a cracking deal mate, the Corsa SXi is a tight little car, she'll be more than happy with it.

Good price D and a nice well spekked car, see if you can get a bit more off due to the impending New Corsa which will hit residuals a bit, or as Paul says maybe wait for the new Corsa

In a word - No - from what the sales guy was saying. He reckons that even with the New Corsa coming out, the impact on residuals will be minimal. In fact, it often strengthens them as people don't want to pay the extra for the new one and there is suddenly more of a demand for nearly new examples of the older model.

There's also the other factor that after seeing the brochure of the new Corsa , and some car mag pics as well, she doesn't like the look of it! - looks like a Pug 206. She also doesn't want to fork out £10K odd for that sort of spec in the New Corsa, and as it's time now to change the car she doesn't want to wait a year to see some used examples come onto the scene.

lol - it sits at 70mph quite nicely! If it's just a case of adding a new stalk, clucth switch and maybe a Tech 2, then I may as well. I've asked on a Corsa site (after searching the forum) so waiting for any reples.

lol - I know. But I thought 'what the hey' as I know some guys on here used to own Corsa Cs, and some still currently have one in the family - wife/girlfriend etc. But yes, I'm more likely to get a reply elsewhere - hence me also asking on a Corsa forum.
