You might be able to get a new key and transponder from Ebay but it would still need to be coded to the car. you CAN NOT buy a second hand key and have it linked to your car. It can only be done once.

i have been looking into the same thing so was wandering if someone could shed some light on it as it would help me and the OP.
there are two parts to a key
1 the bit that unlocks the doors
2 a transponder that disables the ibobileiser (shocking spelling)
from what i have read the bit that unlocks the doors can be reprogramed but the transponder cannot,
so in theory you could buy a second hand key replace the blade and transponder and have it all programmed and work.
is this correct or have i misread
also when i look in my key i have a circuit board bit not a chip (there is a space for a chip but its not there) however if i try start the car without the button part of the key fitted i get a car and padlock displayed
is the transponder built into the circuit board (difficult to replace)
i dont mean to hijack the thread but like i say any help could help both of us

the only reason i ask is because if what i wrote is correct i think if you have or know someone with the software to program the key you could get a replacement all don for about £30 to £40 i saw a website you can buy the transponder chips for about £5 and blades for about the same

£120 about right at the dealers, but £50 of that is what they charge for the five to ten mins it takes them to code the chip to the car.

    Hi Guys,

the old Vauxhall keys (before the Vec-C) were two stage programming. You'd code a new blank transponder (slides out of the horse shoe) and then code the central locking built into the key...

    HOWEVER....

The Vectra-C is an all-in-one unit that can only be coded once. The central locking and imoboliser are as one. You cant programme any part of a second hand key for a Vectra-C.

I advised a member a while back about how to go about it on this thread. Have a read and see if you fancy having a go.

There is also another resync procedure - which is mentioned in the handbook.
