EUROPCAR Rant ******* useless

so angry at the moment, went to pick up a rental van yesterday afternoon from europcar, first van had handbreak jammed on, so they went to get another van an hours round trip away while i waited, no apology or anything, the van they returned with had no road tax disc, expired 12/2010.
As such a big national company how can they act in such a manner,
and they arranged me a hire van from another company, but are refusing to pay the difference in the cost between there price of £48.27, and the other hire places charge of £61,although the van i have got with the other company is much nicer, Europcar were hiring me a LDV maxus, (i hate driving them) and the other company have loaned me a peugeot boxer, which im quite impressed by so far, and even averaging over 50mpg, which i've never achieved in a van

Threaten to report them for driving the van with out tax

that was my intial intention, but i just had a thought and looked it up on DVLA website and shows as being taxed till 12/2011, so its more of a case of failing to display a valid tax disc!

Still an offence, and you could have got pulled for it.

theres not much you can really do except tell them if they dont re-imburse you for there mistakes you and everybody you know will never use them again....also on the tax is it is only an offence not to display it, its technically not an offence not to have one lol mad i know.......well thats what im led to believe anyway....... £60 fine it holds also.....

they havent even got the decency to return my calls as promised so not expecting much to be fair,

I will be recommending where i got the van i had in the end from,
Hawkins Motors in Penryn, friendly brand new van, and filled it up it acheived 52.1mpg for the driving i did which i could of never expected from a van ever

It comes down to the fact that they have monkeys working there, getting paid minimum wage probably. I use a lot of hire cars at work to go to long distance meetings, and the monkeys who deliver the cars to my office put a tiny little motorbike in the boot to ride back to their depot on. One time all the fuel spilt out of the motorbike's tank into the car's boot, and the monkey hoped I wouldn't notice that the car stank like a petrol station. I phoned monkey's boss at their depot and she denied that this could have happened and I must be imagining the smell. I made her come and see the car for herself, only then did she believe me and arrange a swap.

I use quite a lot of hire cars too, and my experiences are the same as everyone else’s - pretty poor

Cars with no washer fluid are common, as are cars with filthy interior windscreens (pet hate on a sunny winters day – whiteout anyone!). Took one car out and it had a dodgy steering rack – handled like jelly! Most have the ‘in need of a service light’ showing too

Duty of care? Pah!
