    Default Brake Warning Light

This morning I was out in the veccy and as I pulled up at home the brake pad wear light came up.
I assumed I just needed to change the brake pads, but when I got back in the car half an hour later to go to work there was no brake pad wear light and it did not come up during my journey.

I have never worn my brake pads enough for the light to come up before, having always changed them early when servicing.

Is this behaviour normal or if the brakes are really worn should the light still be on? Or is there possibly another probelm, in the circuit perhaps?

    Cheers

    Kenny

Normally it comes on when the sensor has been worn through, breaking the contact

However, it is possible the sensor was not responding so the ECU assumed it had failed
This could have been caused by the wire being broken within the sensor (due to water freezing and then thawing within it)

A long time ago mine came on
A visual inspection confirmed the front pads needed replacing
The dealership then ordered them, wrong parts came in, a further two weeks passed
On the last day the warning stopped!
I pointed this out, and they found the sensor had melted and fused

In that case I might take a look myself anyway, just to be on the safe side.
