    Default LPG Conversion

    Heyup Guys

Just to let anyone know that I've been running a PRINS VSI LPG system on an 03 Vec Z20NET for 70K without issues. No sign of power loss from petrol to LPG. 30MPG. I've saved over 3 grand so far. (From 52K to 122K).

    Cheers

    Alan

    PS...

LPG too short a phrase in board's search engine, so this thread's probably not going to be much use to future searches, unless I'm doing the search wrong??!

good savings there mate. was thinking of having it done on my omega 6 years ago but it was a grand for conversion so didnt bother. form what ive read mpg is slightly less but power same and emmisions cleaner and LPG only 60p liter around here so well worth doing IMO. And engine gets cleaner inside too

Where do you get the lpg serviced? as most garages either run a mile or don't have a clue and say if it works just leave it.

Do you drain the tar when hot?

    Yes thats what i thought.

Like i said most garges run a mile.

It's got a filter to take out the heavy ends in the LPG gas & this requires changing as it will eventually block up.

And when you get the vaporiser hot there will be a drain tap to drain off the tar in the unit.

Eventually when they block up a service kit of diaphrams is required but you will find a garage or installer will sell you a new vaporiser kit.

bigtee.........are you saying its a load of bother or do you reckon its worth it?

do you run petrol occasionally as well or did you get a total conversion done? i wouldnt really want to lose boot space with an extra tank coz i wouldnt get me clubs in.

thinking it would really be worth doing now with petrol at 6squid a gallon

Yes it's worth it but only if your going to make it pay, So if it costs 2k to install you need to be keeping this car a good few years for the extra cost or doing the mileage to make it pay, but then if your doing 20k id expect you would buy a diesel.

Lpg installed from new is a better option with tanks designed to fit & if it's going in the boot this will just be a real pain when you come to lug owt about.

2k is a lot of cash just for 3yrs of motoring at say 12k a year id not bother.

    just workin it out

    say 36000 miles at 36mpg = 1000gall =£6000 for petrol
say you get 30mpg for lpg
    thats 1200 gall at £3.20 = £3840 so a saving of £2160 over 3years
so guess it would depend on conversion cost and how long you keep the car
