    Angry 1.9 cdti brakes

    Hi Guys,
The brakes on my 1.9 have stuck on, done the usual haynes checks and it seems ok vac and such. Does anyone know of any common issues with these brakes or have any suggestions or pointers as to where the problem maybe?

    Front or rear?

Could be a seized caliper or sticking pad.

just had the garage pump my pistons (oh er missus) all the way out and clean them up then wind them back in. That sorted them right out and passed the MOT. not bad for £30! Can't be too careful with brakes!

all sorted now, night before heard a loud bang could not see any damage but a core spring had snapped while it was parked which had locked the brakes on. found a local mobile mechanic just replaced it for £90 good as new. i found the bottom coil of the spring on the driveway after car was collected

Hi, What do you mean by a 'core spring' - I had a problem with the handbrake return spring on the rear caliper that wasn't releasing the handbrake properly and causing it to drag - I managed to get a stronger spring that cured it but later changed both calipers with GM ones.
