vectra dab stereo.... is it better than standard?

im picking my vectra up on saturday and when i was test driving it the salesman told me it hs a better stereo as it is a multichanger and has dab radio?

how much better is this than the standard stereo?

will it have upgraded speakers too?

how many speakers are there in a vectra just out of interest?

DAB is ****** annoying m8, its great if u stay in one area but lets say ur in liverpool like me ..... as ur driving to birmingham all the stations change so it has to do a scan kinda like a digital box for ur tv but quicker and when ur in built up area's the signal is PANTS just fades in and out of signal.

I have the cd40 opera dab system........ DAB is ok, bt it seems to loose reception when Im in the city surrounded by buildings, it switches to FM most times when the reception is poor, best part is the 6 cd mp3 changer.

I have one of these too, and agree with them!

Its so annoying when you drive into a different area and it changes!

How ever, on the way to work in the morning, i HATE HATE HATE chris Moyles, so a little bit of 1xtra keeps me going, so i thank the DAB lord for that!

thats the head unit in mine. is it mp3?

I have changed my CD30 to a CDC40 but I didn't have the DAB box, the 6 disk changer is brilliant, a little quirky to get used to at first - especially loading the disks in.
The sound quality is better than the CD30!

Mines is mp3, I have read on here that some guys have an earlier unit thats not mp3.

Never had any great problems with DAB - loses signal sometimes but only in areas where FM is poor too. It's a bit different understanding all the station groupings (or ensembles) at first - it is my only DAB radio experience. Other DAB features like text displya of current track are limited too. But the quality is good, traffic stuff still works fine, and the 6 CD function is useful.

What age is the car? And where from? Earlier CDC40 units were not mp3 capable and they also had a problem retaining station presets for the DAB channels (FM memory is fine). Later units could do mp3 and didn't have the memory problem. It might be worth checking the memory - set a station by tuning to it, then press and hold a number button to set that station. Then power off completely (ie ign off). Turn it on and see if the channel is memorised. They were replaceable under warranty, so you could chase the dealer if it's duff - if you're bothered.

there should be 9 in total model dependant - main driver and tweeter in each door and then a centre speak on the dash
