Could it be the alternator on its way out?
anyway to test it.
You could measure the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running, usually any extra strain on it and the voltage will be low...
What was the aux belt replaced with, just reading through some past threads apparently cheap belts sometimes aren't as good as Vx ones...
do u still get noises through the radio with a knackered alternator?
it was done at vauxhall so the parts should ok
Hmm not sure... I think it would have to be quite bad for the output to drop below 12V but I'm no expert.
Alot of people seem to say cleaning the pulleys; aircon and tensioner ect. with spirits helps. Apperently when they get crudded up they add more strain on everything turning and the belts slip a bit.
ok mate ill start by checking the alternator first then the rest. thanks!!
No worries boss, not my ideas anyway i'm just robbing everyone elses lol.
Hope you get it sorted mate
Ive got the same chirping noise on my 2.2 petrol SRI, I've had a look but I am befuddled as how to remove the aux belt to clean up. Do I need to remove it from the bottom???
Thanks in advance.
