    Default 3.0 CDTI Feeling ill

Been using my dads signum 3.0cdti auto facelift, and its not feeling/sounding right. When you start it up it idles very odd and when you listen under the bonnet theres a pulsing sound. If its left on tick over for 10mins like in winter and it needs de-frosting the spanner light comes up but no fault code are visible or stored. I found 2 jubilee clips that where loose and i tried to tighten them and they broke so i've replaced them and its still the same, also when on tick over theres a very strong smell of diesel!

One last one is when you rev it and let off it sounds as if air is coming out somewhere?? Its a very similar sound to when you put a cone filter on a diesel and the when you let off the accelerator you get the air coming back out the air filter.

Strange thing is when your driving it its fine and pulls well?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Vaccume pipes would be first point of call, second woudl eb check the leak off pipes that run from each injector tot he next if you can smell diesel its likely air is getting in the fuel system.

    Thanks for the replies!

Not loosing power, feels fine when you boot it. Found the 2 jubilee clips that i have replaced but cant see any more air leaks.

I'll check the leak off pipes from the injectors!

One thing i noticed is that the tail pipes were always spotless till about 9 months ago and they now have a soot round them, its strange how there was nothing, even partly into the pipe were you can see was always clean. I know its the DPF stopping all the soot coming out, just don't understand why its not doing a good a job any more? or its another problem relating to the poor idle and smell of diesel etc.
