Oil & Filter change

I need to do an oil / filter change on my vetra 2.2 elite (z22yh).I have not done this on this car before.Is there a special spanner/socket to remove top cap from filter bowl.Any useful tips worth knowing.

Hi Dobs
you will need a torx bit to remove drain plug check you have correct size before you start,
allso fitting a new seal ring to the plug is a good idea,plug tightening torque is 25 Nm don't be tempted to overtighten it.
there is a tool to remove housing top but unless a tightness freak has fitted it it should come of with small grips ect,be carefull the top is plastic,don't forget to renew gasket.
To reset service interval
ignition off (speedometer must show daily distance recorded)
Press and hold down reset button (trip button)switch ign on and wait untill service interval changes and keep the reset button held down for at least 3 seconds
After a few seconds ,the speedo will show the symbol with the maximum milage 34,000km for petrol 50,000km for diesel

Many thanks for the info.It had not occured to me to reset service interval.
Again i have never done this before,the car has always gone to VX for servicing but due to the price i now need to do these jobs myself.
Can i confirm to start the process of resetting service interval,i need to put the keys in and turn the ignition on and then turn ignition off to allow trip mileage to be displayed, and then hold trip push button next to display for at least 3 seconds before next service due in 37000 miles is displayed.

I normally depress the brake pedal, press and hold down the trip button, switch ign on keeping brake pedal and trip button depressed, when display changes release, then switch ign off.

The filter housing probably comes undone with a 32mm socket.

32mm is on the CDTI's, its either 36mm or 38mm on the DTI

0/w30 oil and filter for mine £39.00............i cant buy the bits for that

How often should a vx 0/w30 be changed in months & mileage?
What other makes of quality oils can be recommended for the 2.2 16v direct (z22yh) engine?
