    Default Insignia deliveries ???

    OK

I'm new here and not happy.

I ordered a Insignia SRi 130 CD back in August 2010 with our dealer in Newport Mon. under Motabilty.

Delivery was to be end of November when the current contract ended. Phoned dealer in October checking on delivery progress and I was told December. But I don't think they ordered it in August, because the scheme had increased the down payment from the August amount of £149.00. They told me I had to pay the new amount of £499.00, but as I had the contract stating the amount to be paid they have excepted the lower payment to be paid on collection. Motability are aware all of whats going on and are too chasing the dealer as my contract has now expired with my current vehicle and have an extension till when my Insignia arrives.

Each time the dealer is contacted, I get a story of production problems and then because the deal with Motability includes front and rear sensors thats an added delay and so on. They also say they have problems with retail cars too ??

I was promised delivery 14th Feb, now its gone out to 26th Feb.

I've tried various ways to find exactly whats going on without any Joy, I've been told there are fields full of Insignia's in Germany. Near where I work there are fields full of Corsa's in the UK.

So does anyone know if there is any problems with deliveries with the Insignia or where can I find out the truth or what's going on.

    Thanks

Ask your dealer for the SONO number which is what your vehicle is given when it is scheduled for production, and also ask for the telephone number of GM Customer Services. Then contact customer services, they will be able to provide an update on your vehicle build date / delivery.

    Hope this helps!

    UPDATE

Try and find out from your dealer what event number your vehicle is at. When the car is at event 25 changes etc. can be made, once it moves onto event 30 changes can't be made. Event 33 means "it is in build process". As my previous post, ask your dealer for the SONO number and contact Vauxhall Customer Services. The telephone number for Vauxhall Customer Care is 0845 0902044 - unless it has changed! Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I am expecting delivery of my Insignia in March (ordered November).

    Regards,
    Paul

I odered mine on 1st august and took delivery on December 7th.

I added quite a few extras to an Sri vx line. There are delays on insignias with extras added but I can't comment on why yours is so delayed.

I had a good dealer who kept me informed all the way through the process. However once you get the SONO number you are better armed against dealer bull****.

All the best with your new car.

Sounds very much like the dealer has forgotten to order the car. Once a Motability application is made, the advance payment at that time is the advance payment that you pay come time to get the car, regardless of when the car actually arrives in as the payment is price protected. It very much sounds like your application hasnt been processed until sometime in September (or even more likely, October) when the new price guide comes out, however Motability should be able to tell you when the actual application was made. This would also go some way to explain your delay in delivery of your car, although even a car ordered in September should be closer to coming in than the dates you are currently receiving. Due to the increase demand through both fleet sales and Motability orders (currently lead times on Insignia's ordered with parking sensors as of yesterday is around 15weeks), even at that your looking at a 19week+ delivery time which is way outside any times scale for a standard Insignia SRi.

I think Dave has hit the nail on the head. It is worth noting what Dave has said as he is a VX dealer and knows the in's and out's of what happens.

One of the issues as well, and it's not just Vauxhall is that manufacturers are worried about stock piling cars incase of another credit crunch and they get left with loads of unsold cars.

Insignia is in VERY high demand and Opel have also put on another shift for production.

Things are worse with other companies. My Boss's BMW 520d is up to be replaced, and the delivery for a new BMW 520d SE Auto.............................................. ......

Is the delays through popularity/demand for the cars or is it because they are c*** at building them or made so many redundant that they do not have enough people to assemble them??

Its through increased demand. The delivery problems began back in early 2010 when the advance payments on Motability cars was lowered right down (initially the advance payment on a 130ps SRi was over £1,500, this was then lowered to £149 hence a mass influx in orders, and it remains currently at £499, not to mention the decrease in the rest of the Insingia range). The Insignia is a popular car with fleet companys and also hire drive companys which is why build times for Insingia are longer than pretty much any other model in the range.
