Default Fault codes p0500 and p1222?

i have a 53 plate vectra diesel and i started it up this morning, it fired up then cut out straight away, I then tried again but it wouldnt start it was like it had no fuel. I tried again and got it going and gave it a big rev and loads o white smoke came out but it stayed running. Iv just gone out to start it and it trys and trys but it doesnt fire. I have a cheap fault code reader and it gave me them 2 codes. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mike

This site should help you with the codes http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_...ault_codes.htm

a quick google and it may not be good news as the code p1222 refers to the fuel pump which is very expensive.

Iv had a look under the rocker cover and haven noticed these pipes have bad splits in them, would they have an effect on it not starting?

Well I would replace them regardless, which engine do you have? 2.o DTi?

No wonder it's not starting, those are the leak off pipes, there is air getting into the system and stopping diesel being pulled through. Get them sorted first (hopefully it should sort the problem)

I thought thats what the pipes were but was waiting on confermation of his engine. Replacing these should solve your starting issue as its a common problem. Make sure you replace all the pipes not just the split ones

It's a 2.0 dti, also remember to change all t-pieces as they can split too
