well my question is at what temperature should it be reading.my 120 takes a good few miles for it to move the gauge but i have spoken to a local guy who said i shouldnt always believe the gauge, the sensor can be faulty?
mine from memory dont sit near 90 but i aint having any problems starting yet(touch wood) and its now running better than ever having cleaned the egr up properly,so only want to do this if it will make a genuine difference .

The gauge does not start from zero but 70 so thats why it takes a while to move, depending on the speed you are doing it can take 10-20 mins to warm up. It should then sit at roughly 85, once warmed up it should not budge. If it drops down while driving it is faulty. If it goes up when stationary and then drops down below 85 when moving its faulty

Thanks for that.i will keep an eye on it ,but pretty sure it's gonna need doing but as I will be needing the Cambelt and water pump in the near future and a remap if I can afford it,I am not gonna worry too much.the heaters work well etc,so I ain't gona freeze just yet.
i assume getting hotter quicker will also help the car if you do a lot of local running about ,so will maybe help prolong the life of some components if they are running properly?

dont think it uses them it uses a spring type clip which exerts tension on it.. lemme find a link that tools where uses clips which are normally found on the oil breather lines and possibly vac lines

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LONG-REACH...item257777d025

theres is a cheapo kit on ebay somewhere with 8 different types, i find sometime when you refit this spring clips they dont exert the same amount of tension as before and causes the pipe to leak, happened twice now on different cars i've dont the stat on and changed it to a jubilee clip

these are the spring clip types for the stat as far as i can remember

this is the set i bought in the end

Change my thermostat today on 120 bhp 1.9cdti. I had to cut the bracket with a dremel multi tool 29.99 from b and q. 45 for thermostat. Better than vauxhall 380 to change a thermostat.

All thanks ti this site. Classic

I've just done the thermostat on my Signum (1.9 CDTI 150) with help from the fine guides and info on here. Bit fiddly but not too bad and well well worth it! Temp needle was all over the shop (mainly just over 70 on the move) now its 86 degrees all day long.

    Thanks a million

My temp gauge does not move from 70, but I still get warm air from the blowers, could it be a sensor rather than the thermostat?
