Boxed, genuine and right part (55203388).
Does anyone know roughly when the thermostat was superceded? I changed mine in May last year, and it still struggled to keep up to temp over this winter.
I had mine replaced in June as the temperature took ages to come up and the gauge was erratic, on Mways etc., it would fall to 70 degrees or so.
I'm about to take it back to the garage who did the work as it is again doing exactly the same thing and I'll mention that there is a newer version.
I read somewhere that cars fitted with climate control suffer from the symptoms that I have - has anyone got any thoughts or practical experience of this?
I fitted a new thermostat to my cdti 120 just over 12months ago - genuine Vx part - did an airport run last night and while waiting at the airport with engine running to keep warm noticed the temp gauge was reading zero - on the return journey home it climbed up to 80+ but the heater was not its usual self. Been a run in it today and it took ages to warm up from cold - so ordered another thermostat this morning from Fleabay (genuine VX again) - fortunately when I replaced the first one I removed the troublesome bracket so fitting the new one will be a quick job.
Can anyone give me an indication of how long it should take to reach full temp? My 08 CDTi seems to take about 7-8 miles to reach temp on a cold morning (3-4degC), but once there seems fine. By comparison my old 530i only took half as long to reach temp.
Not sure ifits just because the gauge only starts at 70.
Cheers Kev
