As above can you show a pic of double din dvd headunits. I want one and would like to see them fitted, and do people miss the steering wheel controls? And also will the clock between the air vents go off or will it still display time/date? Thanks

The clock should be unaffected, most after market stereo's have patch leads available for around £30 to get the steering wheel controls working if you must.My stereo's about 1yr old but recommend it to anyone - pioneer avh-p3100dvd
got a feeling this thread is gonna turn me green.......... in the market for one ma sel. likin that pioneer!
One of these units is going to be my next mod , one question on these is do you also upgrade your speakers when installing these units or can the existing speakers handle the wattige , just asking because my existing ccr2006 can not handle my cd,s on any where near full crank

Ive ran headunits off standard vauxhall speakers before and it was fine, not window shattering but sounded alot better than say a cd30, so the speakers are kinda more capable than standard headunits output. like the pioneer, its an awful thing to have to worry about but with it been pioneer thiefs can tell its after market.... is it a constant worry it will be pinched? Im going to put a bit off black tape over the brand of unit to try and make it look like it is built in with car, id dread havin my window etc done in for it!
Heres mine, pic doesnt do it justice, ****** iphone cameras pants..

very nice, bet that cost abit, i see your car has the colour display between the vents aswell. this is one of the reasons i want this type of headunit, to add a touch of colour/class to the cockpit! at moment mine is pretty boring, just has clock display etc... need some hd colour action! lol
If you dont want to faff about removing it and refitting old unit to change date and time on display you need the connects2 steering control kit, not autoleads equivalent. Only difference youll find between the 2 is connects2 cable offers reverse signal, speed signal, handbrake signal, and the ability to change time and date on existing display via roller buttons on the steering wheel etc, but will only let the unit become live when key is at position 2 (ignition), whereas the autoleads one doesnt offer speed signal, reverse etc but does allow radio to remain on untill key is removed. But no display time change. Depends what you want, i favoured the connects2 for navi and camera reasons.
Connects 2 model number - CTSVX002 (Full canbus)
Autoleads model number - PC99-X80 (Full canbus)
With the connects 2 lead, by pressing the button on the wheel that looks like a telephone being put down for 2 seconds it brings up this menu allowing you change time/date.
Hope this helps people.
