Boot won't open!!

I've seen many a posts about this but here is my problem. My boot will not open. When I unlock the car with the remote fob, all the doors open fine but the boot doesn't. Usually when I press the button to open in, it makes kinda like a mechanical/elctrical whirr, then opens. Its not doing it any more, just staying locked.

I've opened it from the inside through the back seats with a screwdriver, had the panels off and sprayed the lock with WD40 but still with no luck.

Not sure if its a fuse but don't know which one it is. The manual doesn't say which one covers it. I read somewhere that it could be the one that covers the window washers, but both the front and rear washers are working fine.

Just so you know, its a 2007 Vectra 1.9 CTDI (150) hatchback.

Had something similar a while ago on mine, the wife shut something in the boot seal and when i tried to open it it just made a loud whirring sound.where the lid was raised the motor could not open the the latch. My only way round was to compress the boot long enough for the latch to disengage. But yours sounds like you may have a bit of crap preventing the latch moving or maybe the motor drive is worn i would investigate this from a mechanical angle as if its whirring the fuse should in theory be ok.

Now got the same problem! but no whirring noise nothing! Unlocked it with screwdriver from inside to have a quick look. Should i look @ electrics first? Ive checked 2 60a fuses it mentions in the handbook and they are both ok? so wahts the first thing to try?

I had the same, one if the bolts from the boot lock had jammed itself in the mechanism but there is an emergency opening in in the tailgate where the bootlock should be on the inside. There are a few posts about how to open it on here
