    Default eCar insurance, stay away.

Everybody probably knows this already, never go with an insurance company that doesn't have a call centre. :|

But I was insured with eBike and have accumulated 8 years of no claims bonus with them, decided to use them to insure my car as they've actually been pretty good to me all these years with the bike and they agreed to honor my 8 years no claims bonus and move it from the bike to the car.

However they have since hounded me with threatening emails stating that they are going to cancel my insurance policy unless i send in copies of my driving licence, and copies of my NCB (both of which they already have copies of from my previous policies).

and between these emails, they have stated that I've given some wrong information and have automatically increased my premium twice because of them, firstly increasing the premium by £660, and then secondly increasing the premium again by another £1600!

They want me to pay almost £3000 in total to insure my car for 1 year, with an 8 years no claims bonus. Plus they have already taken over £400 from me and I've only been insured for 15 days!

    WHAT... THE... F***!

I've now told them that I'm sick of playing their games and I want the proof of my 8 years no claims bonus so that I can find a different company. The last letter they sent me stated that I had 14 days to pay the rediculously high premium or they will cancel my insurance and are telling me that I will have to then tell other insurance companies that i've been declined insurance which will make my premiums go up and make it harder for me to be insured.

I haven't actually done anything wrong! and I'm being made to feel like I'm some kind of criminal, it's crazy!

Maybe get Citizens Advice involved before you go totally loop the loop

It can feel hoorible when you are trying to fight a faceless entity

I think the Gov have also set up a new body for consumer protection type thing.... sorry to be vague I cannot keep up with all the new Gov Agencies...

I'm with eCar, the letter threatening to cancel mine if ididnt show them mine and my dads licenses but other than that they've been okay with me. They do have a call centre but its a premium line (£1 a minute) and they tend not to answer, so may aswell not have one.

There are alternative numbers, look here, second table, under "E"

And type ecar in the business name

Your ncb should be stated on your renewal letter and i've used a renewal letter as proof of ncb before - if not contact citizens advice.

I was with them on a pay monthly plan when i borrowed a mates car but having to print my own insurance certificate put me off using them
