P0560 - System Voltage Low Input

Hi All..

I have a z19dth (1.9 cdti 150bhp) vectra c 56 plate...

While driving I had the battery light come on, but was a hour from home..

everything else was ok so carried on.. an hour later as i pulled into my road i lost everything.. power steering, headlights, dash lights etc etc...

and ilde speed was running quick at about 1400rpm..


plugged in fault reader and have got this fault code

P0560 - System Voltage Low Input
(12) - Not present


also the battery is showing only 8v..

the auxiliary belt looks ok..

turned car off and now it will not startg or even turn over and the dash light flash on then off once..

and so is this a failed alternator?

If so anyone else had this issue... and how much was it to fix?

checked the voltages this morning..

battery was down to 7.6v.. and so would not start.. jump started from another car.. (left it connected for about 10 mins to get enough charge to start)

once jump leads were disconnected battery voltage started to fall quickly back to below 8v and there everything shutdown again.. then dash lights turned off..

it does seem like its the alternator not working... would you agree?

yep - alternator. power steering, dash, lights, etc... died on me last year. still did another 20 miles to get home from work!

Spoke with local vauxhall and they wanted £569 to supply and fit a new alternator!!!
Asked if they would discount it as I had always had it serviced there etc etc.. but they would not do anything...

Called a local garage that I have used for other cars... £270 diag, supply and fit a new alternator.. and so got them to do it.. got car back already and all seems ok!!...
