    Default Turbo Replacement

    Hi

Had my car in at garage as i have been having problems with my turbo. Have a Vectra 2.0 DTI 2002 model. Was told that am going to need it replacing but in order to ensure they ordered the correct one they would have to first remove the turbo to get the serial number.

They quoted me depending on which ont they required £300-500 to replace it.

Is this about right as i have no idea when it comes to stuff like this

    Thanks

    James

    Thanks guys

Not sure wht they said the would have to remove it first. Always taken my car there as they are a good at what they do and usually very reasonable.

Just thought id check it out first though as its first turbo problem ive had.

Is a replacement a job that can be done yourself or is it usually a garage job?

    Thanks

if your prepared to try if you can do it yourself Both Caveman Nige and I have retrofited larger turbo packages to cars and several other members including Duncan have removed and refitted their Turbos following repairs and rebuilds

if you can live without yours why dont you get it overhauled .... should be cheaper in the long run

its not complicated, where is the turbo on your engine, front or back of the block? Its a fiddly job and to be honest you may start and wish you hadn't started.

You can send your turbo away to somewhere like turbo technics (not the only place) and they will completely recondition it for you and then send it back for about £350.
