Default Flat battery / Check safeguard fault

I noticed the check safeguard message appeared a few days ago , checked all the usual things out and the message dissappeared , went to start the car today and the battery was flat, is this a problem with the battery or a problem with the alarm etc draining the battery , i dontknow where to start , but did feel the battery was ever so slightly struggling to turn the engine over a few days before the check safeguard message appeared.

Hi, my alternator went down last week when i got the car back i had the same msg, the manual says it's a problem with the alarm system. I looked at the fuse box in the back of the car and f23 was not in correctly after giving it a push in, safeguard msg has gone. I have no clue how the two are linked but thats what happened with me. Can't hurt to check your fuse box in the back.
