I finally made it down the track today but was a little bit miffed with my times
The head wind was awsome, 20+ mph at least. I didn't empty my boot cos we stayed the night near by so every time I opened it I had to run after stuff that didn't want to stay in the boot...
I started the day on 16.2sec with so much wheel spin, I could have push started it quicker. It got a bit better when I let the tyres down to 35psi (was running on 42) but even my best run was far from perfect.
I found the lights sequence a bit difficult to deal with, I think most people were just going on amber but my best reaction time was a poor 0.647sec.
So now the money shot, here's what I managed...
60 ft............ 2.543
330 ft.......... 6.729
1/8 sec........ 10.144
1/8 mph....... 71.11
1/4 sec........ 15.644
1/4 mph....... 89.25
Not as good as I had hoped but the wind was really giving it some. The car in the lane next to me was an old 206 1.9 GTI, that had been gutted of every thing but a seat and a wheel. It beat me once up the track but this time, even though they got off in .402sec and took the lead I passed them. So I was well happy with that.
Did have some serious clutch slip on one run, so I decided to red line after that to keep away from the torque and it may have actually been faster... Not sure because I couldn't use the torque but I was driving her to 5000rpm before changing when I got the fastest run.
Had a few nasties on the track, one of the rocket cars lost a wheel and ploughed in! Fortunatly it had only just got going so it wasn't doing more that, ooo, 80-90mph!!!!! Driver was fine but the car had looked better.
I was getting faster with every run, even ignoring the reaction getting better and the fastest run was my last (5 in total) but it was getting on so I called it a day.
Can't wait till next time, even if it isn't till next year. Just hope the head wind dies down a bit though...
