    Default CDTi 150 & 120 differences?

Thinking of upgrading my 2.0DTi 03 reg to a CDTi, i know everyone on here rates the 150 as a great car, but for reliability, economy ease of cambelt changes and servicing etc, which one would be better, i'm not too bothered about speed or 0-60 times, just need a reliable economical veccy. Ta

The CDTi`s are stonking engines, major difference between them is that the 120 is an 8v and the 150 a 16v, I would personally go for the 150, a more refined engine, and certainly a lot more economical / powerful than the 1.8vvt

Problems? Only problem I have it finding enough road to drive on because she eats it all up!

If you're doing high mileage, the 150ps would be ideal but it's not so great around town as it is under-powered below 1500rpm. I do slightly more motorway miles and as I say, it's a joy.

Noisy though compared to the petrols or indeed the 3ltr but less so than a DTI.

i own the 150 but i had the 120 for 3 months and TBH it was a good car but the 150 was far better due to the extra power and torque

The only problem i have with the 150 is the horrendous turbo lag but thats been cured with a box

I've owned a 120 and 150. The 150 is defiantly more refined with it being 16v, but it is a bit more thirsty than the 120.

Our 120 was a hatch and the 150's an estate. Although the estate is more powerful (as it has the 150 engine) it is lower geared that our 120 hatch. I always stalled the 120, I thought that 1st was just a bit too high geared for the 120 engine! or maybe its was just my bad driving. I have no probs with the 150 though For example in 6th 70mph was between 1800 -> 1900 rpm @ 70mph yet the 150 estate is bang on 2000rpm at 70mph in 6th).

Avoid the 1.8 VVti is my recommendation..

I had a facelift courtesy car with it in last week..Took Payney out in it and his reaction was that his 1.8SRi is faster..the only way to get ny real progess out of it is to get the revs past 4000, but then the economy makes my GSI look frugal..

I have done nearly 80,000 miles in both my 1.9 150's over the past 2 1/2 years and they have both been fine, the engines are a gem!!
