    Default 225/40/18s replacing 225/45/18s ... issues?

    Hi Guys,

I currently have factory fitted 18s on my car which have 225/45/18 tyres fitted. I'm very interested in a set of wheels that are 225/40/18 though ... would there be any issue in fitting these does anyone know?

    Cheers!

    Dave

What do you mean by 'Correct Size' mate? My tyres and wheels were factory fitted by VX and they are 225/45

    Cheers!

All the VX 18's come with the 45 profile for some reason, but every 18" aftermarket alloy + tyre package i've seen comes with the 40 profile, including my own set As Tommy says, no problems at all

An 8 would look better as it will fill the arch a bit more, butit doesn`t matter for technical reasons

A standard VX tyre for a 17" is a 215/50 which has a 80inch cicumfrance as does a 235/35x19 . A 225/45x18 has a 81.6" and a 225/40 a 78.8" so the 225/40x18 is closer than a 45 if you are looking at the others, thats where that came from, but as you can see not much in it ..

Ahh that makes sense now, so the new wheels wouldn't fill my arches quite as much ... hmmm ... they would be easier to clean though!
