You need only one. On mine I mounted tha blankingplate on the exhaust - side of the egr, before exhaust goes in to the egr valve. If you have a 8 valve cdti 120 you will need to drill a hole in the plate. If not the engine will go to limp mode (cdti 120/150 16 valve do not). Fiat has a semi blanking plate with 3x4 mm hole in. It gives a open area 37 mm2. On my cdti 120 i have a 6 mm hole that gives 28 mm2 open area. And its the smallest I could have before the engine goes into limp mode. If you have a 2 mm steel plate you can make this by your self. Just remember two gasket. Good luck![]()
I used one of these on my 150.I blanked the exhaust inlet side of the EGR, (stops it getting gunged up),but didn't need to use any gaskets at all.Everything was fine,no fumes,no smells, nothing!!.Your EML light will come on if you don't drill any holes in it to allow some gases through though.Best of luck. FELIXX.![]()
I have read that the 120 doesn't take well to having the egr blanked, but i guess all you can do is try it and see how it works for you. If your car is an auto or estate, blanking the egr might actually cause the DPF to clog quicker, causing the car to go into regen more often.
The 120 16 valve engine was never fitted to Vectra's, only Astra and Zafira.
On my vectra 120 and my zafira with the same engine I drill a 6 mm hole. It will gives a small amount of exhaust flow trough the egr (less then the fiat gasget does). If the hole its smaller then 6 mm the eml light will come on.
In europe vectra has been sold with the 16 valve cdti 120 engine.
