    Default sluggish?? poor mpg??

ok ive had my 07 cdti 150 estate for about 3 months.

tbh i was expecting it a little quicker than what it is and also better on fuel, currently getting around 38 mpg mixed driving.

it feels (what i imagine) a cdti 120 would feel like power wise??

having never driven any type of diesel before im not sure what i was expecting both power and mpg.

it doesnt exactly throw me back into the seat but then should it???

how do i know what the mpg should be and power delivery??

im happy with the car but was expecting more after reading around the web about great mpg and leaving petrols behind at the lights!!

and please dont mention tuning boxes as will get it mapped later in the year.

To be honest you should be getting a decent kick from turbo, has it had a good service?

The best thing I could suggest firstly is have a good service, get some redex in your fuel to clean all the lines out, get some 10k boost which will clean the inlet manifold, egr and engine interior and also do the 'airbox mod' with a k&n panel filter if you don't put a new paper one in

Then if it still doesnt run right, then you might need to start addressing other issues like egr valve, 3rd injector, turbo vacuum hoses and intercooler pipe for starters

As for power and mpg, it should be leaving alot of cars for dust due to the high torque, but with mpg it depends on what kind of driving you do IMO the 150 is crap for city driving, they are very well suited for long motorway runs, I have had upto 55-60mpg on long motorway journeys but I can drop as low as 30 mpg or less around town

38 mixed driving even for an auto is poor imo... my manual + heavy right foot = 36 just round town during winter

Sounds to me like a good service is in order

could be that your egr is stuffed, and/or your swirl valve manifold. it is rare for these reliable parts to fail () but worth checking.
38 mpg is not good unless that's mostly around town

Does your exhaust need a regen?.When your filter gets full it produces very similar symptoms to those you are experiencing.Look in your handbook on how to carry out your own regen,or force it to do it. FELIXX.

I think he means diesel particulate filter or DPF. If you have an auto there is a high chance it will have one of these, if you do short journeys they clog up.

Mine is a Auto and around town it is poor really compared to my last car which was a Galaxy TDI PD130. If I drive with a heavy right foot that is a killer to and I think its just the way the Auto is, and all Auto's all poor compared to the manual versions. If I get on the Motorway thats when things change for the better and I tend to now put the Gearbox into the manual mode so that the car stays in 6th gear compared to the auto being a bit to eager to switch from 6th to 5th, also dont use the Cruise Control while in Auto mode as that is a killer for mpg but in manual mode its alot better, soory I havent got a figures but the fuel guage says it likes my method as it doesnt move as quick.
If you live close to me I will gladly help you to check and clear a few issues out
