Ok, here's an opinion poll where I would appreciate your comments



My Vectra VXR is 3.5 years old and not worth much. Courtenay Sport are developing a turbo upgrade so will give it around 350 BHP and 440 Lb/ft which would be fun.

But this upgrade will cost (my guess) around £4000 which is a big percentage of the cars current value.

So... its probably going to be money down the drain as I wont get this back on car sale

What would you do?

Do the conversion and have a very unique Vectra VXR?

Save the money and leave it alone?

Or something else?

Spend the cash and keep it as a long termer. Must admit the power graphs do look good Steve...

- Mortgage Interest Payments
- VXR Road Tax
- VXR Insurance Premiums
- Petrol
- Vehicle Depreciation

depends how much you like you vxr i know you where toying with moving it on not so long ago imho 4 k is a lot of dosh at this present time to fire in to a mod that your never going to pull back when selling it i cant rem what you said your vxr was pushing and what bhp gains your going to see and will you get used to the bhp that you have added and say you want more?as you very well know bhp hunger is a never ending task and will you hold the car for a few years more to get the fun out of your 4k outlay?imho hold your 4k add to it and when you get fed up fire that on top of the vxr ORRRR BUY A locost or the likes for fun track and summer fun race or road days as you will get just as much buzz in 1 of them with a good engine in it

£4000 it's a lot of money. Depends what you plan for the future. If you're already thinking about changing your car within next year or two, I'd save this cash and wait. You have a powerful car already. And when you buy a new one I believe you'll gonna start to think of making some mods right away

But it will end up being more then 4k if you take into account the extra on insurance, fuel, maintenance, possible parts in the future. Does reliability become an issue?

Keep the money and spend it on the next car

Steve, many times have I thought about spending as much money on my car (although not a VXR ) and then thought against it as I love it as it is and by the time you have invested the time and money in your car, there will be something on the market that catches your eye.

mapped now something like 300bhp aren't they - is it worth it for 50 bhp? will the car be that much quicker for that considerable money 4k upgrage for 50bhp.... lot of wedge for that.

if they could make it past 500 bhp then it'd certainly be worth it for any tuning nutter. otherwise, might be better off with another project

Something else. Maybe go to Vietnam or Thailand, imagine what 4k can buy you over there
