On my 56 SRI when I move the drivers side mirror the passenger one moves as well but if I select the passenger one only then only that one moves, been like that on the 3 Vectras I have had.

The Idea behind it, is that when you move the drivers door mirror, the passenger one moves in unison so you dont have to do the passenger one seperate. - saving you wear and tear on the door switch

If they're not aligned how you want them, get the right one right first, then press left hand button on door and set that. Press button again to release it and they's work together again.
