    Default Weird rear lights

I have just noticed that my rear lights are acting up. I have seen a few vectras driving around my area at night and they seem to all have the rear lights and brake light lit up all the time but the brakes get brighter when pressed. My car on the other hand only has the rear lights lit up and no brake light. But when i press the brakes they light up in the right places. I dont have any bulb failures come up so i'm puzzled. has anyone else had a similar problem. pics included.

To be honest mate, im sure thats how mine is. Im sure I have seperate light segments for the brake lights. I was under the impression that the Vec smartly uses the tail/side light segments as brake lights when there are actual brake light errors...

Have you tried swapping the bulbs?

Ok, just been out - I was wrong.

Side lights switched on, the whole cluster is lit up. Then when I press the brakes, only the small strip, just below the indicator segment gets brighter.

Thats an odd one. Unless it has something to do with model/year.

    Mines a 58 SRi.

every other vectra ive seen does the same as yours. For some reason mine does it differently. I cant see it being the bulbs as they work when I use the brakes. Will try swapping them round as suggested

Being a twin filament bulb in the stop / tail if one has blown does the Canbus not compensate and knock the matching other out as well? if this was the case I would wonder or expect you to have a bulb failure warning and as you have not mentioned that I am left very curious, as mine light up the whole red area not just the lower on sidelight settings.

They are all single filament 21watt lamps the electronics reduce voltage on normal rear lamps to max 5 watt which is what they should be
