Default Should I get paid for travelling to a meeting?

Hi, just a quick question, I have been asked to attend a meeting out of my normal working hours, the meeting is a few hours away from my place of work, my question is should I get paid for the time it takes to get from my place of work till when I get back to my place of work??

Work are providing transport from place of work to the meeting.

I tried looking on Internet but can't seem to find anything,

Depends if your contract states where you work.
Generally yes you should unless you are employed to work in various places as the norm. You need check you COE for your terms.

COE states single place of work but I agree to work at other locations within the uk on a temporary basis.

Also depends if you're on a salary or a wage - if you're on a salary then it's unlikely you'll get paid extra.

If its outside of normal working hours you should get paid saying that my GF does not get paid for travelling and I do so it swings in roundabouts. Personally I would never travel in my own time for a meeting.

I would of thought they should of given you a pool car (if they have them) or hired you a car and paid for the fuel. That is the case with my employers anyway

I've spoken to them about it and they said that they will pay for the travel time from place of work.
    Thanks for the info.

We get TOIL (Time Off In Leiu) in instances like this.

We aren't paid for the overtime but are allowed to use it as time off.
