    Default 1.9 /2.2 / v6 Diesel - Just dont know which one

    Hi all,

Sometimes too much information is a bad thing :-) Im trying to buck my normal trend and research a car before I go out and buy one.

Im after a Signum, as high spec as possible, with a diesel engine, but cant decided which engine to go for. At the moment I like the V6 3.0 diesel, with an auto, as this avoids the swirl flap issues, the DMF issue and provides a pokey car with good mpg. But, Im starting to see that real life mpg is quite poor, 30/32mpg. Is this MPG a good, accurate reflection ?

I like the 1.9 / 120bhp engine, but would prefer the more powerful 150 one, but am now scared about the swirl flap situation, and the manual's DMF issue. Therefore is the 2.2 a better engine to go for ??

I didnt mind the mpg drop from a 1.9 ( 55) to the 3.0 when I thought the 3.0 gives about 44mpg, but it doesnt, so need help in deciding :-)

    Thoughts ??

You know you want the v6! It would be rude not to.

i would assume 30-32mpg for the 3.0 v6 is mostly urban /town driving.Im sure if you had a mix of urban and motorway it would return more like 35-45mpg.

What you have to look at is everyone drives differently, what may be normal driving to one person is uneconomical to another.

And to be honest,30mpg around town from a 3.0 v6 with a auto box is still very good going, but you should see more with mixed roads.

I do 60% motorway and 40% urban in my 1.9 cdti 120,returning 53mpg per tank.

Fantastic machine is the V6 mate! Had mine for just over 2 years and i love it as much now as i did the day i brought it home. Use mine in the warmer months for towing my caravan, an absolute doddle with all that torque on tap. Very comfortable, quiet cruising car. Ok it’s not the most economical car but hey it is a 3 litre. In the 2 years i've owned it i've had new front discs and pads which i would put down to fair wear and tear and then just a few weeks ago my interior fan for the climate control gave up the ghost and i got that replaced for £240 which included fitting. To generalise i've spent approx £400 in the 2 years i've owned it which i think's pretty good. P.S. Mine is the Elite model (manual) so you get all the toys too! Saying that you don’t get as many toys apparently on the later models according to some of the guys on here…and mine just happens to be a later model! Search around I would imagine there’s some reasonably priced cheapos out there.

150 !!! lol The V6 is an impressive engine but doesnt respond well to tuning if this is what you were planning. Ive heard it throws a bit of a wobbly.
