Default 6000k or 8000k HID kit for facelift....

I've had 6000k on 5 previous cars and never had the guts to go for 8000k. Anybody got any pictures of them fitted?

Will be going for a 50w kit from hids direct so will be brighter than a 35w kit

It depends on your confidence level, 8K's scream "aftermarket" and will draw attention to you, even 6K's do look aftermarket in colour and could still get you unwanted attention.

I used to see lots of 8K and even some 10K equipped cars but the majority seem to have swapped to normal / 4300K / 5000K bulbs

I had 8K i when I had my Vectra (and have 8K in my current MG) and love them. Yes they are "aftermarket" looking, but thats what I wanted, didn't want it to look OEM, but they are not too blue at all, some guess and say they are, but they are not, at all.

If you fancy them, go for them.

How will you stand if you get pulled?.Have you declared them to your insurance?,I'm not being nosey,it's just that I've just changed my son's over from 6000k to 4300K so that they don't draw too much attention etc,and with a lot of members saying that they've not informed their insurance,I just wondered whether it bothers you. However,in defence of the 4300k ones,I must say that Imo,when they warm up they are fine.Very bright but no blue tinge etc. FELIXX.

Got 35w 6000k in my Vectra-C. Sailed through the MOT no problem. Passed loads of coppers, been pulled a few times. Never once were the HIDs mentioned by them.

Both Direct Line and Tesco insurance know about my HIDs as well.

My profile pic is with 8000k, perfect IMO. Like the very slight hint of blue

Thanks for the input, dont want to get pulled in it so think i'll opt for the 6000k 50w ones.

They are only a couple of quid more than the 35w ones at the moment on hids direct as they have a sale on.
