    Default V.A.T. increase.

Well as of midnight last night/this morning, we're now paying v.a.t. at 20% !

How will it affect your spending ?

I've decided not to be extravagant and not spend on luxury items. Only what we need to spend money on.

This includes the Vectra, only going to spend money if it needs it and not if i want it !

Thing is the car "needs" 2 new 235/35x19 tyres, 1 set of front and rear Bilstein B6 shox, the battery box cover carbon dipped & 1 set of 17" winter wheels and tyres. Possibly some more Irmscher stuff !

Have consideration for the deaf, if you're gunna fart, make it smell !

I'll buy what I can afford, and not what I can't. There'll be a bit less on the can list, but that's life.

The car has got into a bit of a sorry state so getting two new tyres on Thursday and then another two at the end of the month if my tax relief pays out.

Eventually found the little dowell that supports the parcel shelf after weeks of searching LOL, so I now have a fully operaitional parcel shelf again.

Need two new boot struts that the stealers want £40 for, don't think so.

My spoilers cracked after a couple of idiots at work decided to push it through the snow via the spoiler, that was two seperate occasions, one on each side Sop I'll have to remove it and repair either side.

So I've got plenty of places for money to go aswell as the fuel prices

Everything else is pretty tight fisted as we budget every month due to my credit fluury that I'm paying back to the banks so hopefully I shouldn't notice it as I've just had a wage rise and my rent is now cheaper as well

And it needs a good wash as well which I'll do when I'm on duty next weekend

That's only the start wait until April when another 4p to 5p goes on it and every year they can increase by inflation plus 1% that's the fuel levy with out Crude oil increasing and the companies putting their bit on. Recon it will be £1:50 by end of year.

P**** Osborne said the VAT increase will increase employment Doooh just shows how removed from reality they (Tories) really are. They have companies that their wives family use to buy their petrol and diesel so they do not even know how many MPG their cars do or even how much a litre cost let alone how many litres there are to a gallon and, have very expensive accountants to make sure they pay hardly anything in taxes. That's why they do not want to investigate all the tax evasion that goes on.

They were indeed cheaper, but often the sticker price was the same but the lower VAT price was applied at the till. I bought my Halfords 150 piece socket set for £88.07 (£99.99 sale price, plus extra 10% off for reserving online) when VAT went down to 15%. Yesterday that same set was selling at £89.99, at 20% VAT it will cost £91.91

As said in my previous post, i dont recall things being much cheaper when VAT was 15%(even though i knew it was) as such it didn't make me go out and buy lots of stuff due to it being a couple of £ cheaper. So for the sake of £20 more per £1000 its not going to stop me buying something if i need it...BUT im not sure if i agree with paying the extra or not but thats a different matter.
