    Default Self service!?

Firstly, iam not on about the sometimes anoying self service tills we now have in supermarkets. "Checking weight, please wait for assistance" lol

Iam on about servicing my vec myself. It is a 2005 1.8 club with about 33k on and it will be the first time i have done it all myself without any help from mates that are mechanics etc. I have bought the following bits from eurocarparts.com using the discount for 20% off in january JAN20
    • 5 liters of Fully-Synthetic 5W30 Engine Oil
    • oil filter
    • 4 Bosch Spark Plugs
I have a K&N panel filter so will clean that along with the airbox, the pollen filters fine. I done brakes so there fine, also changed drop links not so long ago and are holding fine. So is ther anything else i should be doing/checking at this point with my car with the age and miles iam at? any help would be much appreciated or links to other threads that would be of help. i started this thread so that i can come back to this thread as a referance for my car as i know you can use search. But i search and try and remember all the usefull information and forget it or write it down and it gets lost lol. Anyway thanks in advance guys

You wont need plugs, but now you have them......Off the top of my head I think 5 years is in line with fresh coolant and possibly even hydraulic fluid. If you have a look in the service book it should tell you year on year.

If you running the original springs then it would be rude to not check them and also the rear pads, especially the inner ones as there the first to go.

I put a set of GM oe plugs in when I first bought my vec, 10,000 miles(12 months) later thought I would give them a quick check,, although they looked a perfect colour, all three gaps on each plug were all over the place one great big gap one tiny ect, all four plugs were the same, so I put some bosch super twin spark in, the MPG improved straight away, after 12,000 miles I checked the bosch plugs and they were perfect,
