I tend to think it's weak alloys combined with low profile tyres. I've never heard any stories of the 19" Irmscher wheels cracking yet there are plenty of horror stories of the Snowflake/VXR 19s cracking.

I think that more expensive aftermarket 19's would be ok but i'd stay away from cheap ones

There was an article on Watchdog last year sometime regarding BMW 19 inch wheels cracking, just like a most others i'd say. Bad roads the main problem, its a case of tip-toeing around i'm afraid Will check mine out when they are off for their next wash and wax

I was at an exhaust place on Tuesday and they pointed to my cracked snowies that said i was aware of. The bloke there said there were crap and he seen loads of them cracked, they can be welded but then that creates a strong point and they then eventually crack in two places, either side of the weld.. Seems they are just crap alloy.. I will be keeping mine on until the tyres are worn out then use my 17s while i look around for another option.. its a bummer really as i really like my snowies and not to keen on most of the garish aftermarket rims you can get.

One of mine has cracked again along the weld line of the first crack!
There are so many big potholes in the roads at the moment, and not a lot of rubber round these 19"s to cushion the bang so cracks are to be expected unfortunatly.
