Taking pictures on the iphone 4!!

Just recently got an iphone 4 and with how much these things cost you would expect a half decent quality picture, now i cant for the life of me get a good quality one, and there doesnt really look likes theres any settings to adjust, can anyone help?

i could never get good pictures on mine neither, i've now upgraded again and got for a nokia n8-00, dont think i'd go back to iphone product again, i found them poor for the money, although didnt pay for mine, i still found it to be very overpriced for what it is.

The nokia i have now has an HD camera up to 720p!

I had a nokia before and although it was a good phone, the software must have been done by a 4 year old, it froze more than worked..

Iphone are not the best at taking photos - the mp is way down compared to other phones. In fact the only difference I can see from the 4 to the 3 is the flash on the camera.

At the end of the day it is a 'phone', I don't think you can beat using a purpose built camera for taking pics.

when you turn camera on at the top of screen you will see HDR ON. Turn this on for better pics

When youre setting up your shot, touch the screen where you'd like the iPhone to focus, it will automatically adust everything to that point otherwise it will auto focus to the nearest clear object.

Something to note is that the iPhone is a mobile device. As with ALL camera phones, images taken on it are intended for email and web use and are saved at 72dpi (that dots per inch and is the standard web resolution). Because of this 72dpi image size, A phone with a 100 mega pixel camera is no better than a phone with 5 mega pixels, it just makes pixel counters happy (thats people who like to brag about how many pixels they've got). The truth is that if you print an image at print resolution (300dpi) from either an iPhone or a high megapixel camera phone they'll both print poorly.

If you want to take superb images to print out and put in a family album or sell on iStock etc, buy a proper camera.

As for HD images,... I think youre getting confused with HD video recording (also a feature on the iPhone) as 720p is actually in reference to high quiality moving image resolution.

another option is to download an APP for photos rather than using the specific one on the camera

Well the only reason i ask because ive had to send dedicated camera back to amazon, and the only one ive got to use is the phone, and was going to post a how 2 but the pics come out so pony i didnt see much point, never mind.
