Has anyone on here run their DTi or CDTi on bio-diesel? It's still a little cheaper round here and well, every little helps and all that. Just not sure how the injectors and pumps will hold up to it.

I belive from what I have read on here the Vectra doesn,t like the stuff. So I would be very carefull. No doubt other members will put us right on this one.
I would be, my dad has looked into it before because his Shogun Sport does about 25mpg. Not cheap to run but can throw anything in the tank on that. He knew someone that had a Vectra of sorts and always ran that on bio but for the life of me I can't remember what engine was in it. Can't ask my dad either, not in the country! I know with the DTi engines, they always have a fuel pump lubrication problem, however I always throw in a big glug of 2 stroke oil every time I fill up to ease that a bit. Just wondering if that would be enough to put off the effects of the bio. Reading on Diesel Bob's site gives the pump a 3 star rating. Might be worth firing off an email to see what he says.

We used to use it in our trucks at work with regular problems with blocked fuel filters etc. Some of the drivers started to use it but soon stopped when they too started to get similar issues.Imho,I would give it a miss,as any savings you can make, will eventually be offset by the added repair costs. FELIXX.

As in a previous post and with reference to what ed said the CDTI's don't take kindly to any fuel except diesel. DTI's I'm not sure about.

Cheers for the replies. I'll leave it then I think. The lubrication with the DTI pump is the main concern.
Someone I knew ran his Astra 2.0 DTI on his home-made biodiesel for years with no major issues other than a couple of clogged filters when he didn't cook the fuel quite right.
He replaced it recently with a Zafira CDTI. Two of the injectors failed (expensive repair!) after a few weeks. Coincidence? It certainly wasn't a high mileage car.
Needless to say, he no longer runs the Zafira on biodiesel...
So in summary - 2.0 DTI fine, 2.2 DTI proably fine, Any CDTI don't even try it. Unless of course anybody else here can report better experiences!
Not sure on the dti,s???, but def. not the cdti,s it "mashes" the regulators and control units, high pressure pump and injectors.....
ran my 2.0 dti astra on it not regularly but normaly the tank full before the service was due as it is a detergent eg it pulls all the rubbish out your tank and pipes. never had an emmisions issue the reverse actualy twice they couldnt read the emitions at MOT time.
cdti dont fancy trying it for no other reason than most people report problems and high repair bills.
