Default what service do i need

this is linked to my last post which i posted just before xmas. It was about a 2.0dti that has really bad mpg. Its at about 25mpg now which is shocking. i know alot more words to desribe it but ill stick with shocking.

Iv never taken a car for a service before so im not sure what to ask for, iv heard if you ask for a full service the bill could come back at like £1000. Im guessing i need oil change, oild filter change, air filter change, fuel filter change..... any thing else really and how much does this normally cost.

    Thanks

IF the oil change was done recently you can replace the fuel and air filter yourself It's not hard to do and these parts usually have a big impact on mpg.

yes the oil change was done recently but it would 100% need doing again as when the oil was changed last time the bolt where you drain the oil from underneath the car semt to leak. So the car was driping oil. Not got to much oil in at the moment. Also what is the best oil for this?
    Thanks

A price like that im okay with but what do i ask for. Do i actually ask for a full service becuase i thought if u asked for a full service then they could change like almost everything, so there would be no fixed price?

ask for the price first of a full service. no nasty surprises then . 140 would be the tops i imagine unless you went to vx. they'll probably charge you more

The dealer should be able to tell you the fixed price of the service, they should also call you if they find anything else they think needs doing before they start it, if they carry out any un-authorised work it is at their cost not yours.
I was quoted £190 for a full service on my V6 CDTI at the dealers in chesterfield as I have been a customer of theirs for a few years (company cars not my own).
Vauxalist at Lincoln quoted me £170 possibly a little more due to the engine needing loads of oil.
Tesco have Magnatec 5W/30 on offer at the minute £18 ish for 4 litres, buy that and the filter and do that yourself.

The Magnatec stuff is made by Castrol. They must just have a lot left over because it's never normally that cheap.
